Interview with Aron "Warspawn" Larsson

Hi peeps!

It's been a quiet month this May. My term (and stupidly large essay) is soon over luckily! Even though I am pretty much finished with the Newspaper of Gaming for this month I am going to wait with that and give you and interview I had instead!

Aron "Warspawn" Larsson is the founder and manager of Sweden's largest e-sport team, Team Property. He calls himself "the one who makes sure everything turns out the way it should" which sounds like a pretty great job!

You have had NaNiwa on your team for almost two months now and now the Legacy of the Void beta is out as well, how do you think NaNiwa fits in with your team so far?
NaNiwa is an awesome player with real winning mentality, so unfortenately, he was not totally happy with his results in e-sport SM.

Do you think it is hard for the pros to adjust to the new expansion?
We don't play much LotV right not as the expansion won't be released in a while and the tournaments are still played in the HotS expansion but I think that with some more practise, he will be satisfied with his results.

You also recruited a female team for CS:GO. What do you think about their developement?
They have made a real break-through mediawise. Additionally, they came in fourth place in an open torunament in France which was good! We have been looking to reduce the amount of teams we keep in the team as we want to focus on developing the ones we have and it seems to be going well.

So how do you view female teams in general? I mean, some say it's great for the industry and that it really lets women into the industry while some say it divides men from women even more, what do you think? Why did you sign a female team?
I think it gives other women idols to look up which will be beneficial to women in general. There are many women that play games but few take it to a professional or even competitive level so hopefully, our team can inspire other women to do so. I mean, there are no limits for women to be as good as men in this scene. Unfortenately though, men have competed professionally for so long that it kind of becomes a foreigners versus koreans situation like in Starcraft, especially since there are fewer women in the scene in general too. The male teams think it is really fun to compete against a female team though as the female teams usually compete against other females only, which is not the case for our team. Our team is going to all DreamHack events this year for example. We think that in order to become better, we have to play against the best, which currently happens to be the male teams. We have of course had both positive and negative feedback about signing a female-only team, but we get positive and negative feedback about many things. People have different opinions.

I'm just curious, what do the streamers in your team contribute to your team?
Well, that's something other teams had started doing and we wanted to be on the same page as everyone else. We wanted to try it out and see what it would give us and I think everything's been going well. However, now we need to develope it and get out of the "try-it-out"-phase, especially since the players have been starting to stream too and their initial purpose is less important.

How are you all prepping for DreamHack right now? How do you think things are going to go?
I think everything's going to go well. The only outspoken goal we have is winning the Swedish national competition in Starcraft.

Naturally!
Yes! With the Starcraft line-up we have now, we thinks it is very achievable.

Are there any news about Team Property right now that people just cannot miss?
Um, well we do have a news piece coming out later today... (read about it here: http://www.teamproperty.net/2015/05/24/team-property-drops-csgo-male-team/) but apart from that the biggest things right now are that our female team is being sponsored by Intel! To not miss out on our news one should simply follow us on social media!

Any other shoutouts you want to do in that case?
We have a great team. Our model is working with good managers for a good team. Everyone that is a part of the team makes it what it is!

Alright! Thank you for your time.
Thank you!
