A Basic Guide to... Hearthstone - part 2

Hey guys!

I'm currently at a camping with my job. My students are getting to know each other outside of school and now (8 pm) we're just chillaxing before some BBQ. I apologize for punctuation in advance.
It's very hard to fix on this terrible app.

Anyway, welcome to part 2 of A Basic Guide to Hearthstone. Here's the first part if you missed it: http://artsnerdyblog.blogspot.se/2014/06/a-basic-guide-to-hearthstone-part-1.html

As I mentioned in the last part there are nine heroes in Hearthstone (Druid, Hunter, Mage, Paladin, Priest, Rogues, Shaman, Warlock and Warrior). I also mentioned they have a hero power. I thought I'd talk shortly about them.

All nine heroes have unique hero powers that come in handy in different ways. The Druid's power, Shapeshift, gives the hero one attack this turn and one armour. The Hunter's power, Steady shot, deals to damage to the enemy hero. The Mage's power, Fireblast, deals one damage to an enemy or friendly target. The Paladin's power, Reinforce, summons a minion with 1/1 (1 attack, 1 health). The Priest's power Lesser Heal any friendly character with 2 health. The Rouge's power, Dagger Mastery, gives the hero a 1/2 dagger (1 attack, 2 durability). The Shaman's power, Totemic Call, summons a random totem. There are four to choose from: one with taunt, one with spell damage, one 1/1 totem and one that heals. The Warlock's power, life tap, makes the hero sacrifices two health to draw a card. The Warrior's power, armor up!, gives the hero 2 armor.

As you can tell, all powers are very different and class specific.

As I also mentioned, there is a basic deck that Blizzard have constructed for you if you don't know how to make your own. However, if you know what you are doing it's better to make your own deck, most of the time. There are plenty of different decks to construct but you can steal many ideas if someone has shared their deck online! Note: You can only have two of the same card in one deck.

I would like to go deeper into how much mana cards can cost. 99 % of the card do and will cost anywhere between 0-10 mana. Some cards won't spend any mana, the 0 mana cards, and some will take up your full bar once you get to turn 10 (the 10 mana cards). However! There are some cards that cost most than 10 mana. Yes, you heard me right. There are two cards that cost more than 10 mana. One that costs 12 (that will cost 1 less per card you have in your hand) and one that costs 20 (that will cost 1 less for each damage the hero has taken). So there are a few tricks up Blizzard's sleeve when it comes to mana. Those that cost no mana and those above 10!

A last few quick things before you will henceforth know the basic guide to Hearthstone:

  • You can only play 1v1, online or offline.
  • After each game you earn gold and experience.
  • Gold is for buying cards or arena runs.
  • Experience is for leveling that unlocks some cards and feats.
  • crafting cards require dust that you get from cards you now longer want/need.
    However, cards require much dust.

    Thanks for reading!
    Bye guys!
