A Basic Guide to... The Sims 4

Hello world. This post is directed to anyone who hasn't ever played the Sims games for some reason. However, I'm not sure this guide will make anyone want to play it either. Hah!

If you haven't played the Sims you will most likely still have heard about, or seen, houses and humans. You can either pick randomized premade Sims that Maxis made or make your own, but beware: if you have no clue how to use the tools you'll just make a random Sims anyway, no matter how much you are trying to make it look like someone else.

The gameplay is bascially 70 % create a Sim and build mode, where you build your house. And this is not even taking in consideration the people that make hyperrealistic Sims and honest to God perfect houses. If I were to ever create something like that, I would probably never ever play the actual game.

Sims have basic needs. They need to eat, sleep, pee etc.. It's funny though because drinking makes you go to the toilet but sims never seem to have to poo! If you want to try out The Sims, I argue you to try the 4th game first and don't even bother with the 1st and 2nd. As much as I like the first good old games, 30 % of the gameplay there is just feeding your sims and making sure their baby isn't taken away by the authorities... and that excludes the 70 % where you just create your sim and build their house!

Basic need have to be met for sims to have any energy to go to work, plant some seeds or have sex. Makes sense, apart from the times when your sims start to refusing watching TV because they haven't showered. "Elaganda!" and waving their hands usually means "care about me, I was never given free will... or a proper language".

Sims language and body language is a fun part of the game that would have to be covered in a completely separate post.

Sims have to go to work but literally no one has any idea what they do or if they even are at work! You're not allowed to follow the sims there... unless you buy the expansion for it. You have to know before buying that The Sims is like a demo of what the game could be like with the 50 expansions Maxis just pump out. It's not like they are at work around 8 hours every day and sleep 8 hours every day. Like, fun game?!

As I said, I'm not sure anyone would want to play The Sims after reading this guide but... it's still one of my favorite games, at least it used to be when I was younger. I hope this was an accurate description of the game, although with some exaggerations.
Take care.
